Off and running!

Dear Pre-K Community,
This will be the weekly blog site for the Liberty Country Pre-K Computer Lab. Our goal in the computer lab is to introduce your child to the amazing world of technology, through the computers, SmartBoard, and software that makes learning exciting and expands their understanding. Each week, our class will focus on Pre-K standards in math and science, increasing your child's understanding of these subjects and hopefully making them fun!
Last week, we focused on the components of the computer and began working with a fun game called Reader Rabbit. This game allows for students to manipulate the game using simple movements of the mouse and keystrokes. It will help to build their understanding of how to use a mouse appropriately. At the SmartBoard, they played with the amazing website www.starfall.com, to begin learning how to touch the SmartBoard.
This week, we began the more structured lessons that your child will become accustomed to in the computer lab. The students began with a SmartBoard lesson on numbers, singing counting songs and counting a variety of objects. Then, we split the class into two groups. One group went to the individual computers while the other group played a game called Tumbling Towers at the carpet. They tried to stack as many blocks as they could and counted them as they built. Then the two groups switched.
Overall, it has been a wonderful week in computer lab, and we are looking forward to continuing to support your child's learning in the classroom through technology integration! If you have any questions or ideas to share with us, please do not hesitate to call us at 912-876-0773 or email us at staylor@liberty.k12.ga.us!

Warmly,

Christine Crawford and Sara Taylor
